Male Dominated ???
Today morning, me and my friends were having a discussion about Male dominated Indian society. My friend was comparing the Indian corporate world to the singapore corporate world and the discussion turned to an argument.
Dunno, why this happens. Everytime, there is some discussion degrading India or females, I become very agitated and end up arguing. Well, I know that I love my country and I will always stand for it, but there are some people who take my argument for my country and my gender as arrogance.
Guess what? Today my friend was saying that there are lesser number of women in the higher position in Indian corporate cos of male dominance. I told my friend that its just not male dominance, but so many other things that leads to this.
Basically, if you take the Indian society, our traditions and cultures, women are given more responsibility in the family side rather than the career side. There are very few women who are more carrer oriented. we women from India want the happiness of our family more than our happiness and we are ready o sacrifice our carrer also for this.
I am not supporting it or saying that its bad. It depends on the person who is deciding. May be the male dominance in our society is more... but thats not the only deciding factor for all these. Take Kerala for instance. There its a maternal society. But still how many women are in the top positions? What is the % difference between that state and the rest of India?
We do have many ladies in leading political and managerial world. May be in the future, we may have more ladies in the top positions cos now the number of girls who are graduating is increasing everyyear.
Irrespective of whether women are in the leading positions in the corporate world or not, I am sure that we have the competency and shine in whatever we do. Being a homemaker is not such an easy task. Me, being a working home, will say that working in a office is simpler than staying at home and taking care of the family. But, when time requires all of us are ready to change for better irrespective of whether the better is being a home maker or an employee.
Hope men realise the importance of women in not only their life, but also in the world.
